Car to be bought in China-differences?

My wife and I are currently working in China. We are shopping for a mid-sized sedan (thinking Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, or Hyundai Sonata) and of course have been hitting all of the research hard.What kept popping into our minds though was this basic question: Is a car of a given make, model and trim level that is bought in China subject to the same manufacturing specs and quality control standards that the same car bought in America would be? For example, some cars might be made in China but be heading for the American market and some cars (same make and model) might be made in China but be bound for the Chinese consumer.
This would change the way we do our research here. Perhaps we would lean more towards the anecdotal data available on Chinese internet sites, but not sure.
This question could apply to any make and model.
