#1 of 2 The All-New 2014 Lexus IS
Dec 04, 2012 (8:50 pm)
1. Carry over engines, and no hybrid on this model (According to C&D, who was also there to drive the prototype)
2. Moves to the larger GS platform, which will add less than 100 lbs. Longer wheelbase, larger back seat and trunk.
3. Manual may die, but unconfirmed. 8-speed on the 350. Probably the 6-speed on the 250
4. LFA gauge cluster, easily the most high tech in this class. By a lot!
5. Expect next Summer
It seems Lexus is pretty happy overall with the IS style, and just looked to fix it's key shortcomings. It didn't need revolutionary change. The base engine will need replacement ASAP, and I expect it within 2 years.
With a real trunk and back seat, I don't see why it can't sell 50k a year.
