My 2003 ford windstar has been having an issue recently. I first noticed a slight growl or whine and thought it was the power steering pump untill it began to start hard as well.It kept getting louder and now does it all the time. to test the theory I removed the drive belt to eliminate the power steering pump and the noise remained. It now whines loud, cranks over hard before it starts and sounds like the motor stops abruptly after key is turned off. Is there a common problem that may be the culprit? could it be the timing belt/chain? It runs great after start but is really loud now. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks, Doug
