#1 of 3 2011 Quest LE - ACCS System Question by gipsonmt

I bought a CPO 2011 Quest just last week. Am loving it so far. I did have a question about the A/C system though. The van is equipped with what Nissan calls the Advanced/Automatic Climate Control System (ACCS) which they say is supposed to scrub unwanted odors. The button to operate this system is on the top row of A/C controls, second from left - it's the recirculation icon and the light that comes on is blue.

When I first start the van I can press this button and it comes on. Also on the A/C screen an outline of a car w/ bubbles comes up (guess that indicates it is "scrubbing"). This lasts for about 15-30 seconds. During that time I can turn the ACCS switch on and off. However after that 15-30 second window is passed I can't turn that button on at all. I have tried several times and it always does this.

I am confused by the owners manual because it speaks of being able to turn the ACCS system on and off (the auto-circulate feature) but then it also says that there are sensors to detect unwanted or exhaust odors. If it is automatic, it seems odd that there would be a toggle button for the system if it's only operable for a few seconds at start up.

So my question to other LE owners is: Can you toggle the ACCS button on and off at will (blue light) or does yours only work when the car first starts up? Thanks.

The light should stay on. I've driven a couple of these and the light always stayed on unless you turned off the system. Might want to take it to the dealer and have it double checked. Good luck!

Well I took it to the dealer and they claim it is working properly because it will only come on when the sensors pick up an odor and turn the system on. Doesn't seem right to me since on the one I test drove the light was on. But he says that was because that car was sensing something in the car that warrented the sensor coming on. I dont agree wit them but dont have proof as to how it is supposed to work! Frustrated!
