#111 of 166 Which is the better lease deal, or are they the same? by phiveoz2slo

Acura is running two different lease promotions on the ILX until 4/30/13 in NY. Which is the better offer to take?

One is for 209.00 a month for 36 months with 2499.00 due at signing.
The other offer is essentially a sign and drive at 260.00 a month for 35 months.

Terms and conditions are easily obtainable by going to their website or acuraofwestchester.com

Both offers are based on MSRP of 26,795.00. Option to purchase at 16,344.95 And the money factor I was told today by the dealer was .00024. Think that's a good deal?

The only difference I noticed on Acura's website when comparing the two is the actual net capitalized costs. For the 209.00 a month it's 23,524.96 (including acquisition fee).
The 260.00 a month is 25,494.00. How is that difference calculated?

Can one advise me which is the best approach to take?

If I wanted the premium package how should I calculate the extra monthly cost? The full MSRP of the premium divided by the term months or the depreciation value of the MSRP? Are manufacturer offers like these extremely strict and hard to change around?

My last question: I was told by the salesman that to upgrade to 12k a year would raise the payment "by about 25.00" a month. A little math determined that to be 15 cents a mile. According to the term offer, the penalty IS 15 cents extra per mile so there seems to be no incentive to pay for a 12k program other than to have the assumed 900.00 penalty(assuming I drive 36k over the term vs 30k) washed into the monthly payments. I think I'd rather take my chances on the cheaper payments and if I don't hit 36k then the extra $ is in my hands and not the dealers. Is my thinking logical with this? Can I negotiate 10 cents a mile since 15 is the penalty at the end or am I bound by the terms of the manufacturers offer?

Thanks for any help with all these questions I asked. Hopefully someone else can also find my concerns helpful in their process of leasing.

oh yeah, one more thing, does Acura typically include gap insurance? I don't see any mention of it on the offer terms and conditions.

1) Just doing the math, the zero down, $260/mo. lease looks cheaper.. For a number of reasons, it's a better idea to not make a downpayment, and take the higher payment... if those numbers are correct, it's a no-brainer..

2) The difference in the capitalized cost is because of the downpayment in the one example.

3) The increase for the premium package should be along the same lines as the lease payment... So, if the car has an MSRP of $26K and it's $260/mo., then a $1000 factory option should raise the payment about $10/mo. (just as an example)

4) "by about 25.00" .. Just a guess... and not accurate.. Going from 10K/yr to 12K/yr decreases the residual by 1%... This will add $268 to your depreciation.. That is a bargain for 6000 extra miles... (under $0.05/mile). If you even think you might need them, it's worth it...

All Honda (Acura) Finance leases include GAP insurance..

#113 of 166 Email offer from Larchmont Acura dealer by phiveoz2slo

Mar 15, 2013 (4:28 pm)

Just received an initial internet quote from a salesman at Larchmont Acura. He seemed a bit hesitant in his wording on handing out an initial quote via email. He did end it with, "I will work out a really good lease on the vehicle for you." so I assume he's prepared to negotiate some.
Seems a bit high compared to the earlier posts here. I'm hoping for some feedback on these figures before I go in there to see him. Is this competitive from your knowledge?

Premium ILX
Term- 36 months
Miles- 10k per year
First payment- $313.89
Bank Fee- $595
Sales Tax- $1002.88
Tax on Bank Fee- $52.81
Total due at signing- $1,964 plus DMV
Residual is 59% Money factor is .00024
MSRP $30,095 Invoice $28,876 (He's leasing me the car about 200.00 behind invoice)

Is there a chance I could get this monthly payment under 300 with enough hassling? Possibly sub 300?

Any thoughts are appreciated, thanks!

You can definitely do better... Actually based on your numbers, your still about $200 over invoice. There is also $1,000 rebate he is not accounting for. You can get this car for $800 behind invoice plus the rebate. I did it earlier in the week. Here is what the deal should be with a selling price of $26,600. Good luck!

Hi Carman
Could you please tell me the current residual value and money factor for the 2013 ilx auto. sedan with 15k miles/year/36 mos.
Looking at both the Premium pkg. and the Tech pkg.
Would the numbers be the same for both?

Thank You

So, by my fuzzy math, if you bought this car at the end of the lease, it'll have cost about $28.6k or so to keep this vehicle. Curious what vehicle you came out of and why you chose this one? Haven't driven one yet but is it that much different then the Civic I presently own? I do like the exterior/interior of this vehicle but isn't it so close to a Civic EX-L with that one being substantially cheaper? Just curious as to your motivation here as you obviously prefer this size vehicle as I do. I've also heard the Acura buying experience is a good one and much better than the Honda one. Also, what other choices did you have besides the ILX to lease?

Sorry for all the questions but seems there are so many vehicles to choose from so am curious how this became your top choice.

The Sandman
