I bought a brand new 2009 Toyota Matrix XRS. It had 26k mi on it, always been Toyota maintained and I was driving 8mi. from my house when it started smoking from the hood.ALL the dash lights came on, the brakes completely failed and I had to use the e-brake to stop. It erupted into flames (within 5min of stopping) from the hood. Now it's totaled. The extended warranty is useless and Toyota is FINALLY looking into it after my insurance company contacted them also. Anyone else have a similar issue? The original & extended warranty are useless. I have a 03' forerunner and a 05' Rav. I think these computer-run cars aren't worth it.
