The fuel cutoff on my '93 Ford Escort trips a lot, even just from the smallest bump in the road. I can't be sure it's actually from a bump though; maybe it just happens for no real reason. So I've left the access cover off and pull over (if possible) and go back there and press the reset and start the car and I'm on my way. Question is, could it be as simple as getting a new cutoff switch? Thanks.

Possibly, but the first thing you need to know is what *should* cause the switch to trip. I thought that switch was tied to roll-overs and airbag deployment? If you test for the things that cause it to trip to make sure they are operating properly, then replacement of the switch itself might just do the trick.
