My forester will not start! The battery is putting out 12.6 volts and its all getting to the starter. i grounded the starter and it works just fine. its an automatic. any clue what the problem could be?

More information.... what specifically happens when you turn the key? If the answer is "nothing," then it is likely the shift interlock, which only allows the car to start when the shifter is in 'P' or 'N'. If you get a single click, or a series of clicks, then you likely have a bad connection between the negative battery terminal and the bracket that grounds it.

I get nothing that I can hear from the inside of the car. But I can hear one or two clicks when I'm looking in the hood. But I'm definitely not hearing multiple clicks.
