#1 of 2 Fast idle on 97 T&C by nodsirrah

I have a 97 Town and Country that normally idles at around 750 - 800 RPM, recently it is running 900 or more in drive.
What would cause this?

Facing the van from the front you will see the trottle body witch is conected to the black tube that goes to the air filter. on the side there are two plugs won is the idle position sensor and the other is the trottle position sensor. What happens is over time carbon fills it up a little bit and it can't adjust it self to the proper idle when the idle goes up it is because it is sticking and wount go in or out to the right level, you can clean it and put it back, before you put it back in make shore that it is adjusted right the tip of it pushes in it should be no more than an inch from the bass were the tip goes in. When your driving down the road the shaft goes in and out to maintain the right idle position. The only way you would get a check engine light is if the sensor elictric part fales not if it is not operating right.
