#1 of 1 1997 T&C RKE programming.

We don't have a Remote Keyless Fob for our recently purchased 1997 T&C. We purchased one from Ebay which is the same type used on our 1997 Dodge Caravan. I used the remote from the Dodge and programmed the used one to work the Dodge so I am confident the used one is OK.
We used the procedure which entails removing the top of the dash to get to the RKE module and followed all the procedures to program the used remote to the T&C, it did not work.
I read 2 more articles which claims the #1 terminal of the Data Link Connector can be grounded and then gave different procedures for programming the remote. I have since become temporarily disabled and can't get to the T&C to try them.
My question is whether the procedure of grounding the #1 terminal on the DLC will accomplish programming using the specified button pushing. It seems like a lot of work to remove the dash cover if grounding the #1 DLC terminal will reset the RKE module.
I also read there is a heavy gauge green wire going to another RKE module behind the glove box which can be used.
Is there a means to check the RKE to see if it is OK?
I think all of these procedures have been posted the 97 T&C and 97 Dodge but some people post procedures that claim will work but not pertaining to the specific model and year I need.
I am really confused, can someone please provide definite information that I can use when I get back on my feet?
