I have a 2004 Chevy Venture with the check engine light on. Also my gauges do not function properly all the time. Sometimes they are accurate or they needles may point in any direction. I could be driving 20 mph and the speedo says 110mph. Fuel and Temp gauge do the same. I took it in to have the codes read and there is no data/no connection from the OBD-II.

The no data is usually caused by loss of power to the obd2 connector. On a chevy vehicle it is usually the same fuse as the cigarette lighter. The gauge issue is not related. Hope this helps. For some more info I saw this site about obd 2 and scan tools. http://www.obd2codescantool.com">link title
