So, I am finally about to get my head gaskets replaced.

From whatever I have heard/read, my impression was that the "proper" way of doing that job is with the engine out. However, the service advisor at my local Subaru dealer says the job gets done properly independent of wether the engine gets pulled or not. Only one of the six mechanics at that dealership actually pulls the engine for this kind of job.

My question is should I insist on having the engine pulled or not?

I need to go to a dealership, because it's a warranty issue that SoA is partially helping me out here with.

Thanks!
MM

No, it doesn't have to be pulled, but it is a heck of a lot easier that way! I would expect the job done right regardless of their method, so if you get it back and it continues to leak, it's on the shop to get it right.
