Can not select air direction

I tried to switch the air direction from the vents to defrost this morning and no matter what position the switch is in the air/heat will only come out of the dash vents. No air/heat will go to the floor or defrost. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? When I turn the selector knob I can see the light going to the different positions, but the air just comes out of the dash.

I should have mentioned this problem is on a 2005 Town and Country.
