Had to replace front tires after 12,300 miles (4/32 remaining - 6 months) on my 2011 Elantra LT. I was told these were not covered under warranty. In addition, the dealer told me that the Elantra has "cheap tires" and they only get 20K to 25K anyways in their experience. The front tires had not been rotated yet which I was told added greatly to the fast wear.
Additionally, since I live in a snowy area, the dealer recommended I replace all 4 tires since the stock tires handle poorly in snow.
Just for your consideration in estimating maintenance expense for the Elantra and consider winter driving.

Look up the tires online to get their rating and mileage expectations. That seems like excessive wear. In general, the dealer is the worst place to have tires evaluated or to buy them.

I have a 2011 Elantra limited with the 17 inch wheels and need to buy my 4th set of tires after only 90K miles. The two sets I bought after the originals were both selected for their wear ratings through a national tire seller. I have not had this issue on any other car I have owned, including my 2005 Elantra GLS. There is some issue with the wheel size/suspension/other that was overlooked when there wheels were selected for this car.

Have the dealer or another shop do an alignment check. This is clearly excessive. One other problem with the Elantra is the rear axle is fixed. If the rear wheels are out of alignment you are pretty much stuck as they can't be adjusted. Front wheel alignment can be adjusted.
