#1 of 1 leak under "driver's side" by minnesippi

I am not a mechanic...please advise in "blonde" terms.
Loosing oil at a rate of about 1/2 quart per 10 miles. Engine knocking (started Saturday - 2 qts low that time). Looking under vehicle, appears that oil is leaking - covering drivers side, thick, black "oil", undercarriage.
Looking around, there is a hose (I dont know from where it comes or what it is for) the (non-compression hose) is loose, oily and needs cleaning and a new clamp (looks like zip tie?)
Also found red fluid drip coming from near rack & pinion under "drivers seat"
Guy at Valvoline said it was the "Dogbox Cover" (What??)
Guy at repair shop (without getting under it) said could be tranny, coolant or something else completely. 2 days before they can even get it in the air. So I am here in my garage, up on ramps, taking pictures and trying to find my answer on the WWW.
