Thanks Car_man. Do you know if the dealer can use the $2820 lease cash towards a purchase? Or are there current purchase incentive/rebates out there?

#299 of 313 volt rebates? by deaddog

Mar 08, 2013 (12:43 pm)

Dealer says only incentive is a $3000 rebate which requires me to take the 48 months 0% finance deal with no prepayment penalty. but offering me $4100 below invoice per edmunds on car that is $42,435 invoice, 44,545 msrp. Something is mot adding up - either edmunds invoice is wrong or there hasto be more rebate money because he isnt going to sell at a true loss. So, anybody know the real story?

#300 of 313 Northern CA Volt lease - high residual? by waterman9

We negotiated a 1k total drive off and $358 / mo including tax for a 15k/yr 3 yr lease on a Silver Topaz with leather package and safety 1. No other fees, no disposition, no buyout fee above purchase price. We're happy with those numbers. The buyout number, however, is $30k. Salesperson claims this is through USBank. Should we worry about buyout number, i.e. I'm assuming this can be renegotiated at the end, especially if we're willing to walk away at the end of the lease. This is my first time leasing; I've always purchased in the past.

Also, was surprised to learn that Nav wasn't necessary on this lease because it comes with 3 years free onstar, which includes Nav. This is free nav for the entire 3 year lease (great for when smart phone is already in use)

Any thoughts on this deal?

Good question, deaddog. No the cash incentive that is available on leases is not available on purchases...however General Motors is providing a $2,000 cash incentive on this car to consumers who finance it through Ally at 0% for up to 6 years. That's a very attractive offer.

You have a great deal. Dont forget to get the $1,500 California Clean Care Rebate.

I leased one too and who cares what the residual will be as this car is not worth owning as in three years the technology should hopefully be better. I love my Volt....and it was done through Ally Bank.

waterman9 - I've been looking for just this sort of deal and knew that it could be had elsewhere (friend of friend got even better deal some time ago), but I'm in Hawaii and discovering the rules here may differ from he mainland. For example, taxes on leases are treated differently and less favorably here. We'd pay a use tax on the cap cost of car, not on the lease payment. At least that's my understanding.

Considering the markup I've seen here, one option is to purchase/lease the car in Cali and ship to Hawaii (c. $1100). So far it looks like HI prices would more than make up the difference and I could use a mainland trip for business as well.

I would certainly be interested in talking to the dealer, or (aimed at other readers) any other dealers that are willing to take a similar offer.

Mahalo!

#304 of 313 conquest cash? by gregdole7

Carman or others,

Can you verify if there is $1k in conquest cash on volt leases or purchases?

Thanks

#305 of 313 Cash on the Volt by deaddog

There must be significant rebates out there that are not being disclosed - I have two dealers offering below $38,500 on cars with msrp of 44,545 using the 0%/48 mos -- both in Illinois.

Interesting, deaddog, I can't get to that number even calculating 3% holdback.

Is there some sort of state incentive in IL the deal could be adding in?
