I see that sometimes on various web sites. It's like the page jumps just when I'm ready to mouse click. Moving the mouse down seems to make some pages shift down. My problem is random though and intermittent, so I can't just reproduce it to break it.

Haven't really researched to see what the issue could be (I'm using IE10 and an older Microsoft Intellimouse, so I figure it's just a driver issue with older hardware and "beta" software). Anyway, you may want to see if there's a newer driver for your mouse and see if that helps.

The issue IS edmunds. Load the page, the ads are not there, most of the page has drawn, and a short while later the ADS finally pop in, draw and resizes their area and push everything down.

I dunno; there are a gazillion possible hardware/software combinations out there and some combos result in weird conflicts sometimes. If this was a common problem on the site, we'd be inundated with other complaints.

Can you try a different computer and reproduce the issue?

I've tried three different computers AND IE AND FireFox.

Goto your home page and click, Acura under "Browse by Make", the next page has a delay before that acura ad pops in underneath the breadcrumb trail at the top and just above the "New Acura Models" header.

For you, at what point does this acura ad render?

For me, on xp or win7, ie or firefox, it's always the same result, the ads render last, the page is not preassigning space to the ads, and so the page experience is horrible as things jump around.

For me, it doesn't render immediately and the browser hasn't assigned space to it. Then after the ad pops in, everything beneath it moves down.

Hm, the ad (the one with the golf clubs) loads fast, but not instantly. Don't have a stopwatch but it's around a second I think. Loads faster than I can move the mouse down and try to click on a model. Guess that's why it doesn't seem jumpy here. That's on my plain vanilla laptop with Win 7/ IE9 (fast connection though).

The sponsored content under, say, Dodge, does load faster than the Audi ad (it's instant), so maybe there's something with that ad that's more resource intensive. No issue with a similar looking ad when I click on Subaru.

Sometimes rendering issues can be helped by deleting your cache and resetting your router.

Well, I can't explain then. Do you work for edmunds and maybe your connection is just faster to all the ads? My firefox has privacy mode on which I think clears the cache constantly. My IEs do not. I have already manually cleared my caches but that didn't change anything. My computers are no slouches and I have broadband. I just went and checked yet another computer, vista and ie, same thing, actually experience was even worse, huge delay before the ads popped in and pushed everything down.

The solution is very simple. Design the pages better. They should have the space for the ads preallocated with a div, so that when the ad finally does pop in, nothing else on the page jumps around.

I do not have this problem with any other sites. That's why it's so aggravating to use edmunds, the problem is prevalent on so many edmund pages and the delay is there and it does cause things to move around.

Yeah, I work here but I'm off-site on Lake Superior in the UP of Michigan. Still amazed I can get 25 Mbps here in the boonies when I could only manage 7 in Boise.

You can try the help link at the bottom of the page and someone in IT in the home office may be able to help, or at least get your concerns routed to the design folks.

Sorry for your experience; stuff like this frustrates the heck out of me.

Well, thanks for trying to help. I actually created a login here just to try and post about this issue and TRY TO HELP edmunds. I'm not about to keep spending more time trying to help edmunds make their site better chasing down different places to post. Yet another simple solution, the IT office AND design folks should have somebody monitoring this forum.

For me, the solution is simple, I am just using other car sites now. And I tell other people to use the other car sites now too. I will drop back in from time to time too see if Edmunds fixes the issue.

The problem with just monitoring the forum (and it is) goes back to the various hardware/software configurations. Problems can be related to the OS service packs, conflicts with other installed programs and a host of other stuff that people using different systems aren't experiencing. Sometimes issues have to be solved on a case by case basis. Pulling one ad may not solve anything.

The one that shows in the Answers section. I couldn't see in my settings where I can do that. Thanks!
