I just purchased a new 2012 Kia Sedona EX with power and luxury packages for $28,360 before TTL and it is a great car. Originally I was considering either a Honda or Toyota minivan, but the Kia has so many convenience features that it seemed unbeatable for the money.
 
The EX fully equipped has of course power doors and tailgate, but also 2 position memory seat with power adjustable pedals, steering wheel and outside mirrors. What a help since my wife and I are different heights. When you put the van into reverse the mirrors automatically tilt down so you can see the edge of the curb backing up as well as a back up camera and sonar beeping.
 
The engine is quiet and powerful and the brakes feel strong and powerful with good feel on the pedal. It has a 6 speed transmission with very smooth shifting. The fluid in the transmission is sealed in for life. I wanted a minivan with a true independent rear suspension and the Kia has this with a multi-link set up.
 
The sound system is a 10 speaker 650 watt Infinity with subwoofer. We always listen to Sirius and this system honestly has an amazingly rich sound with deep lows and crisp highs. It sounds better than my sedan's Bose system. The kids have a DVD to watch in the back with either wireless headphones or direct.
 
Further the car comes with a 5 year 100000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. Obviously the competitors are much shorter.
 
So for our family we wanted a nice minivan with power doors and seats with the latest 6 speed transmission for fuel economy and rear entertainment system. The equivalent Honda or Toyota was $7000 to $10,000 (before tax) more and still did not always match the features of the Kia. None of the competitors matches the warranty.
 
We realize the resale value may not be the same, but so far this minivan feels like a winner since a Honda touring model with 6 speed and memory seats is close to 40k. We like having such a long warranty and plan on keeping the car for at least 5 years. We also did not have to spend more to purchase an extended warranty like we would have with the Honda or Toyota.
 
I came to these forums before purchasing to try to find out others experiences with the Sedona. There is not much information on the latest generation. I hope this information may be useful for some of you who may be in the market for a new minivan.

We are in the market for a minivan and have been comparing Honda, Toyota, VW and Nissan. We test drove an EX with Luxury and Nav package and the drive experience was just like an Odyssey - firm and closer to a sedan feel. The engine was peppy but the transmission felt laggy. The new front grill looks underwhelming on the van compared to the Kia sedans.
The msrp was ~34K. We didnt haggle but looked like the dealer was motivated to move it. The only downside was the stiff seats but otherwise we found that the sedona had good headroom and legspace and the power adjusted driver seat is a luxury. Dont remember if it has memory for driver 1 and 2.
Warranty helps if there are minor problems but I think they have been constantly improving on this van. It is a strong contender.
Resale value sucks compared to Sienna or Odyssey but not sure if it is worthwhile to keep it past 5yrs. People have reported trouble free 8 yrs.
