I recently bought a 2001 Pontiac Montana, and I love my van. However, of course, it has some issues that I'm hoping to get some help with identifying so I know the best course of action for repairs. I have already searched and found the answers to my fuel gauge problem so now I need to know about the transmission. I don't have a lot of trouble with it, but every once in a while, I'm driving down the road, doesn't matter what speed I'm doing, I seem to lose power and the van has difficulty accelerating. Then it will shift and I'm all good to go again. There aren't any noises or shaking or anything like that. I spoke once with a tow truck driver (ended up with a dead battery and needed towing home), we talked about different Montana issues and he brought up the transmission slipping idea. Which sounded like what my van is doing. He said that most shops will say I need the whole transmission re-done but all it actually needs is just some little tube or connector changed. When I tried to get him to elaborate, he decided to clam up and back off the idea. I've done some research, but can't seem to find any information about that. Would anyone here know anything about that? I'm sorry, I can't explain in more detail what he was saying since he wouldn't expand on his explanation. Aside from that, I've been reading about a "PCS" and would like to know what that is. Thanks so much for your help!

I just brought a 2001 Pontiac Montana 1st thing I did was get an oil change when I left Walmart the "LOW OIL PRESSURE" Light came on then , the service eng light came on , after that the van started hesitating when I hit the gas I got the oil pressure switch replaced and that fixed that but now I took it to a dealership to have some professionals look at it and they told me that 2 gaskets are blown and I need a new tranni I don't think I need a whole new tranni I think it's something simple the dealer ship is always gonna try and dig into your pockets. Did you ever find out what the towe guy was talking about "tube or connector changed" ?

Did you ever find out what this was? I have a 2000 Montana that started doing the same thing and now won't go at all. The transmission was just rebuilt 6 months ago.

My little sister owns a Pontiac Montana 2001 and she had problems with it leading transmission fluid and she had a hose replaced and it stopped leaking but it still slips. She had the whole transmission replaced and the new one also slips. She has, replaced rotors brakes tires CV joint etc and nothings worked. I am buying it from her for 800$ because she was going, to junk it for 750$ and i'm hoping that I can find the problem since she has already replaced so many parts.
