Car is in park, I can turn the engine off but key will not turn far enough to remove the key or turn off electric. Have to disconnect the battery to release the key. Any cheap fixes or solutions?

I just had this problem happen to me today. only way to remove key is to remove negative terminal of battery. I hope posting this again will get someone with an idea.
