#1 of 2 Genesis OBD crazy read-out on 04 Kia Sedona

Hi all, I am new here and need some help with an issue. The check engine light has been coming on for the last couple weeks, and everytime my Dad (he's a mechanic) hooks it up to the Genesis diagnostic vehicle code reader it tells us that the code is PO116 (engine coolant temp) and the live data read is wacky. The van isn't overheating, so we don't think there is anything wrong with the coolant. We aren't sure if the code is a sensor problem, or something like that. And we aren't sure why the code reader is giving us wacky read-outs, since it doesn't do it with any other year/make/model. I have been google-ing this problem for hours and have come up with nothing.
The check engine light came on yesterday afternoon after driving only a couple minutes to the store, then when I got back in to leave, it wouldn't start until I tapped the gas a little and I had to rev it up a little to get it to stay started (fuel injectors maybe?). It usually comes on when my hubby is coming home from work, and it has had issues starting once or twice also when he was on his way home. Going out to get some fuel injector cleaner tomorrow morning, since it seems a little sluggish.
Has anyone else had the same issues either with their van or with their code reader?

Okay, so we have determined that the program on the Genesis needs to be updated, that was the cause for the strange readout. We still are not sure why the PO116 is coming up as a code, but think it could just be the sensor is off.
I still need help figuring out why it won't start. It had started doing this a couple weeks ago, and would only do it every once in awhile. Now its everytime I get in to go somewhere! I am worried about getting stranded somewhere with my young kids, or my hubby getting stranded at work. I am getting really frustrated!
