#1 of 2 Toyota Highlander starter or battery? by mytoyotasuv

Mar 30, 2011 (2:07 pm)

My car ('04 Highlander) recently started to start much slower when the key is turned. Additionally, when the car is re-started, the clock time is incorrect (off by hours!). I am wondering if I need a new starter or a new battery perhaps or even both.

Can anyone diagnose this or is more info necessary? I just don't have the time or money to take it to the dealer after already taking it for a recall issue.

MANY THANKS!

G'day

Sounds like the battery on the way out (clock issue) and seven years is stretching it for a battery with expected life of about four-five.

Drop into an auto electrical shop and get them to check the battery. Usually a very straightforward exercise if you explain the symptoms

Cheers

Graham
