#1 of 3 Help me setup an auction to buy a Forester by emankcin

Dec 05, 2010 (9:55 am)

I originally want to buy a Honda Fit but since I moved to Central Oregon I would need a vehicle with AWD. I like the good value Forester represent.

I want to setup an email bidding auction with the dealer to get best price. I need the car soon because I'm currently without a car and am having a rental now. Everyday I wait it's costing me money.

I only want to buy a base 2.5X because it's cheaper. What other nice features and packages I should include with my Forester?

Is it better to buy a 2010 or 2011?

Any advices? Thanks!

2011:

* timing chain so no belt to worry about (saves on maintenance cost too)
* easy-swap oil filter
* +1mpg for more, lower cost over time
* no big price increase

It may cost a tad more, but resale will be better.

I agree - go with the 2011. As for options, I would personally opt for the roof rack rails. There are several Subaru dealers in Oregon that advertise prices at or near invoice, so you shouldn't have too much of a problem getting a decent deal. You could also take a quick trip up to Seattle and get one for under invoice.
