My stock tires are 215/70R15 and i want to change to 215/60R16. Based on what i've read there will be a 0.6% change in the speedo. Is there anything else i would have to worry about. A mechanic told me that the transmission would have some problems. I can't seem to find anything online related to this.

First, you are aware that you'll have to change wheels to do as you suggested, right?

If you are aware, and that is not a deal breaker, then you'll want to use 225/60R16. Those have the same load carrying capacity as the 215/70R15's and the diameter is even closer.

did this work for you? I have a 2001 G Caravan with 15" steel rims and want to put on 16" aluminum rims... center hub does not seem to fit.

Two questions:

1) Which engine does your van have?
2) Where'd you get the 16" wheels?
