I had a 2006 Civic and I currently have a 2005 Accord. The Civic had a misdesigned rear suspension and that had to be replaced at 65000 miles. Honda agreed to pay half of that. My 2006 was a coupe, which I thought was a nice looking car. I sold it and kept the Accord. I did not like the 2006-2011 four door design. I hate the look of the 2012 four door. I have not seen the coupe. For some reason, I do not find them on the lot. Honda has real problems with design. Outside of the 2006-2011 coupe, I have not liked any of the designs on the Accord or Civic. However, what they do have is quality. At least, that has been true on the Accord. The 2008-2012 Accord design is pathetic. I don't know why Honda has such sorry designs. Please understand that this post is coming from a Honda fan.

"""The 2008-2012 Accord design is pathetic"""
I beg your pardon ? To start with, your comment regarding Accord design is in the wrong room as this is for Civic discussion. Secondly, as someone who is now on his third Accord coupe of this generation (that's right- 3rd) I personally find the design quite pleasing, as do likely the other 400,000 or so consumers who purchase the Accord in the United States every single year.

I beg your pardon, but I stand by what I said. By the way, what difference does it make if I mentioned the Accord in this chat room. If you like the design of the Civic and the Accord, you need to go to work for Honda. You would fit right in.

Why is this such a big deal? People's opinions about styling are bound to differ. I love my car, and realize that others will hate it. Thank goodness there's a variety of vehicles available to suit everyone's tastes.

I got my 2012 Honda Civic LX 2 days ago. It got 5 miles on it and the dealer received it just 4 days ago. I am very happy with it even though it costs around $3,000 more than the 2011 LX. I did not buy any extended warranty. Why?Coz it's a Honda! And when the time comes that I want to trade it in for a new car, I am confident that I will get high resale value. Why? Coz it's a Honda! lol.

I'm sorry but I watched the Korean cars do poorly at the auctions and as used cars (for us, anyway) they were never easy to sell.
Because of this, I think a two or three year old Hyundai could be a great value.
Since they are so close in price to a Honda, I just can't see why anyone would buy one. Of course, that is only my opinion.
Granted, they have, indeed come a LONG way. Given their dismal initial offerings they had to. I give them credit for being able to survive when the odds were against them.
I don't need to "wake up" I am simply stating the reality of today's marketplace. If the improvements continue I may very well change my mind.

I think you are stating the reality of yesterday's marketplace. But that's only my opinion.
In yesterday's marketplace, the Civic was at the top of the heap in the compact field. Not in today's marketplace however. Maybe the 2012 Civic will pull it back up. But it's a tough, tough field these days.

So by your logic you should be working for Hyundai, as others here, and I suspect you have a fondness for the upcoming Korean brand and feel the need to express said opinion in the HONDA CIVIC 2012 ROOM. Peace and love to you

Well, no, I am talking about TODAY'S market but I also realize that TOMORROW'S marketplace may very well change.
People have short memories.
And you are spot on with your "tough, tough field" these days. So many cars to pick from and none of them "bad".
Personally, I think the latest offerings from Ford will be much more of a threat to Honda. They REALLY got their act together!

Your comments are strictly subjective.
The designs that you call "pathetic" or "sorry" are loved by the masses.
I suppose this is why restaurants have menus.
