I am having the same issue. Just started today. Wouldn't this be covered under the Powertrain warranty? I bought Certified Used to not have these problems. But I am past the Bumper to Bumper.

How strange that Toyota's hybrid had problems with its acceleration and not only was there a recall, they had to pay millions of dollars (just heard it on the news last week). Yet, Chevy has a very similar issue (instead of sudden acceleration, we get sudden deceleration) and not a word is spoken by anyone but the victims.

Have you had this checked into at any point over the last few years that it's been happening, rbowens?

cinginn,
Depending on when your vehicle went into service and how many miles it has on it you may still be within your bumper to bumper warranty (3 years/36000 miles). Please don't hesitate to email us at socialmedia
gm.com if you have any questions! Include your name and contact information, the last 8 digits of your VIN and mileage, and a summary of your inquiry.

Just had the same issue as most of the posts I have seen. Started the car, and it ran horribly, with the messages; service traction control, service stabilitrak, reduced engine power, and the check engine light was on. Took it to the Chevy dealer, and he was not surprised. He made the comment that "these cars each have a personality of their own", and "this problem occurs more often than you know" after I mentioned that there were hundreds of complaints on the internet. He said it could be one or more of about 4 things. Unfortunately, the car has 60,000 mi. (2010 model) so it is out of warranty, but this is a safety concern. I do a lot of highway travelling, so I really don't want this to happen again at 70mph., and I won't let me wife drive the car until I know it is fixed. I am waiting right now to see what the service dept comes up with. I will post their "fix" once they get back to me.

I always research a problem to find the best solution. I have read page after page of posts from people who are experiencing the exact same problem and are finding little to no help from GM unless they hand over hundreds of dollars to their local Chevy dealer. This can't be good for the Impala brand. My car is also experiencing frequent engine lights, service stabilitrak, and reduced engine power messages. This causes rough shifting and very poor performance. I have a 2011 Impala LT with 67,500 miles on it. This car is too new to act this old. My old Toyota had fewer problems at 333,000 miles.

I have a 2008 Chevy Impala and my car just started giving me the same issues. Did you get a solution from the dealers?

Not yet, they diagnosed it as a bad throttle positioning sensor, and have ordered the part (and the corresponding gasket), but can't get it until Monday. I will hopefully pick up the car on Monday and have no more issues, we'll see. I will keep everyone posted on the cost and if it happens again.
