98 Dodge Caravan Automatically Switching to Heat

Greetings!
 
I have a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport 3.3L that is automatically switching to heat! I'll be driving down the very hot road blasting the air conditioner then it will get the idea to switch to heat! What is going on? All of the dials are still on air but it's cranking the heat out. All of the fans work at any speed, the fans for front and back seem just fine.
 
I don't think it's the air itself I think it has something to do with a switch or relay (b/c the air comes out just fine when I can get it to stay on air) but I'm not sure where to start?
 
I am getting the clock spring replaced on Monday (b/c the horn/airbag/cruise control is not working w/ a airbag light on right now) does that have something to do with it?
