Well, looks like I spoke too soon. The transmission shifted and the gauges worked right after I replaced the speed sensors but then both quit working again. I'm looking for new ideas.

Well, it's shifting for the time being. Some research on this transmission says the TCM is programed for each individual vehicle at the factory so since I had replaced the original TCM with a junkyard unit I put the original TCM back in and now it shifts! Looks like the problem was speed sensors after all. Still have digital gauges going off and on. Here's a clue--with the ignition turned on, engine not running, the gauges work fine. As soon as the engine cranks the gauges quit working. They must have an input from the engine which is screwy.
