#1 of 3 Transmission will not shift, Digital gauges on & off by rupertle

On my 1992 T&C I've had trouble with my digital instrument panel going blank especially when I first start the car so I thought it had to do with operating temp. I got another used display from my junkyard but it did the same thing. Then the transmission would not shift out of 2nd also when cold. I have replaced the TCM, the BCM and the solenoid pack, all to no avail. Then I read one of your posts which suggested the speed sensors might be to blame so I replaced both of them and voila, the transmission shifts perfectly and the gauges work all the time. I hope this will help some of you with these two problems.

Well, looks like I spoke too soon. The transmission shifted and the gauges worked right after I replaced the speed sensors but then both quit working again. I'm looking for new ideas.

Well, it's shifting for the time being. Some research on this transmission says the TCM is programed for each individual vehicle at the factory so since I had replaced the original TCM with a junkyard unit I put the original TCM back in and now it shifts! Looks like the problem was speed sensors after all. Still have digital gauges going off and on. Here's a clue--with the ignition turned on, engine not running, the gauges work fine. As soon as the engine cranks the gauges quit working. They must have an input from the engine which is screwy.
