I ordered a 2.0T and currently have a VW GTI with the same 2.0T and I can tell you it does go through oil quicker than a typical engine. VW tells you to get the oil changed every 10,000 miles but I found if I do it every 5000 miles it's better for the car and I don't have an issue with the oil consumption.

Odd about the engines being the same. Does this mean the Tiguan also uses the same engine as the Q5 2.0T? The Q5 offers better acceleration and possibly fuel economy than the Tiguan, despite that the Q5 weighs more.

It is NOT the same motor. The only "sameness" is the fact that it is 2.0l and it is a turbo. The GTI motor puts out in the region of just over 200 hp and torque, whereas the motor inthe Q5/A4/A5 is around 211 / 258. The GTI motor (and the one in the Tiguan) is transversely mounted and the Q5 motor is longitudinal.
Both motors though are superb!!!

Thnx for previous info.
Wrt extended warranties:
I saw on the Audi web site that several protection plans were offered, from powertrain only through Platinum.
Are these plans backed / sponsored by Audi itself?
Or are they third party plans that Audi is referring to?
My local Audi dealers implied they were all third party plans (which in general have been described as being worthless by most leading consumer magazines.).
Should also add that at the Portland OR Auto Show, the Q5 had more of a crowd around it than any other Audi. Also, at time of the show there were only 6 Q5's in inventory for the entire Portland area.
#29 of 34 snow buildup in front wheelwells
Feb 01, 2011 (10:27 am)
At Portland Auto Show I got to look closely at Q5, and noticed an oddity:
Inside the front wheel well, the lining only covers 3/4 of the well, and stops just short of the upper wishbone (which is roughly 1/2" from the tire = no clearance for chains!). There is a large empty space with wiring just above that partial lining (the metal at the top of the well does appear covered with some kind of undercoating).
I wonder how much snow and ice will build up inside these wheel wells, particularly in that empty space above the partial wheel well liner. Anyone here have any observations?

I've had my eyes on the Audi Q5 2.0T too, however the navigator is a major showstopper for me: can't believe they charge extra for this clumsy outdated navigator and no touchscreen.
Has Audi looked at how far ahead the competition is in this field?
