#619 of 800 Door Locks
Sep 04, 2012 (7:54 pm)
I have now had all of my door locks replaced. Thank God for the extended warranty that something told me to buy when I purchased my 2008 Tahoe. I have neVER had the need for an extended warranty before. Our 2000 GMC Sierra takes a licking and keeps on ticking, but I don;t think I will purchase a CHEVY product any time soon. I will be trading in my Tahoe before the extended warranty expires. It is a shame, because it rides nice when running properly. The dealership (Freeway Chevy) knows me by name, which is sad. The dealership is great, but the product is not. My husband told me that his company, a long time chevy buyer, is now going to purchase Ford work trucks because the chevy trucks they have are experiencing some type of wiring problems on the new trucks. This is a shame because they purchase many trucks every year. This is a shame. We were going to cosign for our daughter to purchase a malibu, but due to the poor quality of chevy lately, we are now looking at Honda and Nissan products. We have always been firm believers in buying American, but not when you are losing this kind of money.

We have a 2009 yukon denali xl have the same issue, iam in the process of replacing the third actuator out of 4. i contacted GM for the safey concern more than anything, all they were worried about is if was serviced at a GM dealer or else were, if it was not done by a GM service then it would not be recorded in the national database. So what i did, and would recomend to you and to all else that have this issue. file a complaint with the NHTSA regarding this matter. this helps determine weither it will be a safety recall or not.
See GM has this lock actuator failure classified under a "NON-safety" safety issue. If my family cannotget out of the vehicle in an emergency it is a "major safety" safety issue.
And as for what the "gmcustsvc" sai, I will let you know what my dealership said "there is no recall, over warranty mileage, no warranty coverage, payment is out of pocket" was over warranty by only 1000 miles when the first actuator failed

I am happy to report that my dealer, Gearhart Chevrolet in Denville NJ was able to convince GM to repair my two passenger side locks under warranty - My 2009 Yukon Hybrid has 62,000 miles on it. Unfortunately, the driver lock is now acting up. Fingers crossed!

We have a 2009 Suburban LT and 3 out of 4 actuators failed and we have 58k miles. We contacted GM and set up a case and then spent $99 for a diagnosis. Then after a few weeks were told that we are out of waranty. So obviously I knew when we started we were out of warranty so GM basically screwed us out of $99.
I then contacted one of these GM people on this site and the response I received was:
Thank you for your update. I apologize for your frustrations. I have brought your situation to the attention of my superiors. At this time I am unable to overturn the resolution of your District Specialist; however, I have documented your dissatisfaction. I apologize for your frustrations and inconvenience.

I am wondering if anyone was actually helped by these GM Customer Service agents? This is a safety issue. My child began chocking and he was sitting in the back seat on the passenger side. I was standing outside the car and couldn't get to him. I had my keys in my hand but both passenger side locks wouldn't work and there is not key hole to manually open the door. I ended up running to the drivers side of the car and was able to help him but it could have very easily become tragic. I bought this car used a year ago and I wish I had bought a Ford.
#624 of 800 Door locks stopped working

I own a 2008 Suburban LT, with 48,000 miles. A couple of weeks ago the passenger door lock stopped working, and today the Driver side lock also stopped working. After looking through all the posts, I feel fortunate I made it as long as I did. It sounds like the back two are not far behind, great. The only other problem I have had is the chrome on the interior door handles have begun to pull away, and are very sharp. Two people have cut their hands on them when trying to open the door. It sounds like there is nothing to do to get them fixed, but any advise would be helpful. Thanks

I to have cut my hand couple of times from the driver side interior door handle because of the chrome peeling off. GM needs to stop cutting damn corners and stop putting cheap crap on these vehicles we pay a lot of money for. Shame on you GM. Recall these damn cheaply made locks.

#628 of 800 Door lock problems and more
Sep 17, 2012 (7:51 am)
We have a 2007 Yukon XL 55,000 miles that my wife drives and loves. Problem #1 Started with a oil consumption problem, had one service visit for this, didn't fix it. Now we are going back and they are going to replace the piston and rings this is supposed to fix the problem (supposed to-I LOVE THAT WORD) we will see (waiting for ordered parts ). Problem #2 The vehicle has been recently possesed. Doors lock, dash and headlights go black, wipers stop , all in a split second and then everthing back to normal. It will do this repeatedly 5, 10, the record is 24 times in 10 minutes; seams to have a mind of its own. Had it to the dealer last week they and GM never heard of this problem; heard that before! Put it on there tester, told us they think its the battery. Paid for new battery installed, drove it home and parked it! The next day it did it again; my wife was heading to Madison for soccer games with truck fully loaded, drove it one block; doors, lights, etc started going crazy, (did it 10 times) all within one block of our house; turned around and parked it back in our driveway and she refuses to drive it; I don't blame her; thats just great! $50,000 truck which looks good on the outside but has deamons on the inside. Called the dealership to make another appointment to bring it in on Tuesday; not sure what this is going to cost. Feels like a guessing game $125.00 labor per hour+Parts(Out of warrant of course). Iam good at guessing games, but I don't want to play! So far very dissapointed in this truck. Always owned GM products-2001 GMC Savana, 2002 Chevy Avalanche(Had major $ problems with this truck to-New heads,4X4 trans overhauled, Rocker Arm let loose-ALL OF IT out of warranty, how convenient!) , 1997 Olds 88, 2000 Boneville, 1997 Malibu, Astro Van, Celebrity, Cavalier, Chevette. Anyone ever heard of or experienced these problems?
