Hi, It sure seems like there are two problems here, first the door locks are obviously a problem and second, some GM dealers ( our local one included ) are a joke. Perhaps they have forgotten that good customer service leads to repeat business.
The power locks on our 2008 Suburban LTZ's rear passinger door will not work.
The sad thing is that the dealer ( OBX Chevy in Kitty Hawk NC ) said they'd fix it when we bought the used truck from them almost two years ago. We dropped the truck off several times and they attended to some things on our punch list but never completed it.
I tried to have them call me when the part came in to avoid the 70 mile one way trip. They never called.
I made it a point to call the dealer at least once a month and was always greated with a big ole "Hi Buddy how are you?" followed by the statement that the guy who was handling the issue was right here and he will call me back in a minute. Of course the call never came.
After several months I gave up. They never fixed the doors, never completed the work promised and never provided the DVD system headphones that were missing when we bought the truck. This is our forth Suburban, we have never had such poor service.
Now after finding this article and the response from GM Customer Service I am hoping to get the doors fixed and issues resolved the way the should have been handled the first time.
Please let me know if you can help.

#313 of 800 Second Door Lock Actuator to go out on 2008 Tahoe
Dec 02, 2011 (9:55 am)
I am having the same issue. We bought the car right at 40K used but made a hefty price for the LTZ package. Our first lock went out on the passenger rear side and the dealer near our home where we are having the car serviced rushed to fix free of charge and also fixed chrome pulling away from car on rear driver side exterior door. Now at 55K the rear passenger side door lock actuator is out and they called with a $350 quote + labor. I have asked them to waive this fee since they did it the first time and it is a know issue with Tahoes. I am waiting to hear back, but would encourage the GM and dealer to see me as a long time customer. Tahoe today with one baby and another on the way, potential Suburban in future, etc. and do the right thing. I guess I am put off that I had to ask for the waiver. One hour later and no call back. Keep you posted on the outcome. Surely an off site mechanic can fix it for less the $350? It is a huge safest issue too. Daughter screams because I cannot unlock the door, but I am manually locking it so no one hopes in with us or she opens while driving. So I have to crawl across the back seat to unlock. What a pain.

Needless to say, gm customer service is aware of this but they are taking care of the problem.
they make to 215 miles to dealership now that's one way to have it inspected. delaership wanted 96 bucks to diagnose the problem wow thats not done.
it cost almost 400 bucks for this total trip not to mention time for back and forth. all i get is quote. no thanks. it cost 370 bucks for this door actuator to fixed. now that's just for now we get another and another one, one after another. we know what's wrong with our vehicles. faulty door actuators.
gm should take full responsiblity rather than making people frustrated, what will hapen in the future we will not buy another gm vehicles ever in near future.
door locks are very risky when you have kids on board we dont want to have our kids fall out of vehicle no no no no. may be gm is waiting for an such incident be occur. then they will step in to fix it.
if anyone have any success with GM i would like to hear that.
here is the people who i spoke to her name is may she is the sent me.
may, martin. several others i can't find papers now....
GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TOTALLY USELESS. I AM NOT BUYING ANOTHER GM PRODUCT EVER. IT'S MY FIRST AND LAST. I WILL ENCOURAGE OTHERS TOO. THIS IS NOT HOW WE SHOULD BE TREATED. VERY PISSED OFF...........

TOTALLY RIDICULOUS WAY, HOW GM IS RESPONDING.
THEY WANT 100 BUCKS FOR THE DIAGNOSE AND WHAT YOU WILL GET IS THAT QUOTE FOR 350 TO 400 BUCKS. GOOD LUCK
I HAVE SEEN GM REPS ARE RESPONDING TO POSTS. WHAT DOES REALLY MEAN, IT'S NOTHING MAKING CUSTOMER THAT THEY ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE AND DENY YOUR CASE AT THE DEALERSHIP. SO YOU HAVE TO PAY FROM YOUR POCKET LOL.
IT'S TOTALLY WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
THEY WANTED TO EVALUATE THE CAUSE OF IT. UNDER YOU EXPENSE THEN THEY WILL DENY THE CHARGES. YOU WILL ENDED PAYING FROM YOUR POCKET AT THE END

I had the rear door locks failed and was quoted $800 to repair. They firat offered me to cover the labor only and I rejected that offer. A couple days later they called and covered the entire repair.

Let me add to Bobobx's issue with OBX Chevy, that I caught them in a bold faced fraud besides their efforts to deflect my indignation. This dealership
needs investigation as their repairs are fraught with deceit!
Summary... Fans in my 2007 YukonXL stopped. Bring to dealer, no call back till after 2 PM asking if I would authorize $585 to order parts while car sat in bay with over 2 hrs labor required to fix. After waiting 6 hrs for the diagnosis, I was not about to wait for two days, no truck, for parts (module $185, resistor $ 35 plus 2 hrs labor $ 95 ea.)
When I demanded my car, I was told it was torn down. I insisted and the 2 hrs labor was 15 minutes...and low and behold the fans work. Putting the plug back in nearly cost me $585. This was fraud plain and simple.
GM ...you are dying over this. I owned three GMC's. I have replaced blown transmissions at 100k; I've replaced dashboard instruments; I've replaced front transaxles, all at my cost and I was still loyal. Now I see deceit and I am gone. You have a problem!
