Transfer Case Fluid

Just had brakes done on my '02 Tahoe. Shop said transfer case has red fluid in it, but should be blue. I had transmission rebuilt 2 yrs ago elsewhere and he replaced transfer case fluid with "Mercon V" according to the receipt. Is this bad news or is it not a critical issue? Looking to see if I should have the fluid replaced or not. I'm obviously not savy here....thanks for any input.

There is blue fuild that should be in it. I don't remember what it is called but the dealer should be able to tell you. Ask the parts department.
