#1 of 4 SERVICE BULLETIN - Odyssey

There is a service bulletin for all 2005- 2007 and some 2008 Odyssey models. The bulletin indicates the power steering fluid reservoir cap is faulty (a $14 part). If you don't get it fixed containments will leak into the fluid and your transmission pump will fail and the repair will be $500+. A service bulletin is not a recall, but a solution to a problem, In this case the problem is power steering noise, but once the noise is noticeable the pump is most likely bad. I would suggest the next time you have you vehicle in for service have the dealership perform this service bulletin. It will be covered under warranty if you are under the warranty max mileage (60,000?).

Service Bulletin reads as follows:
MFG Bulletin Date: 12/07/2010
Component: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE
Bulletin Summary: HONDA VEHICLE: DAMAGED CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR (CMP) CAUSES THE MIL TO COME ON WITH DTC P0344. EXCESSIVE CAMSHAFT END PLAY CAUSES THE CAMSHAFT GEAR TO DAMAGE THE CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR. REPLACE THE FRONT CAMSHAFT, THRUST COVER,
Date added to datbase: 02/07/2011
Has anyone attempted to get this addressed? I have almost 69k miles. I just bought the van. I hope this is covered. Warranty book shows this as a powertrain item and is covered only until 60k.

This is simply a service bulletin alerting the service department what to do. It's not done just to do it. It's not a recall notice. Also note it doesn't say that camshaft positions sensors are faulty. It says if the camshaft position sensor becomes damaged, this could happen.
