OK, so I drive a BMW X3 right now and have 2 kids. One in a regular car seat and one in a infant seat that attaches to a base. Since the infant one is behind the drivers side, I cannot drive because I would be too close to the steering wheel. If I sit in the passenger seat, I am constantly being kicked by my 2 and a half year old.
Is this an issue in the Routan??? I don't want to sit close to the steering wheel, I don't want to be kicked, I don't want the back of my seat dirty, but most importantly I want to be the one driving.
Thanks

I have 4 kids, on in a forward facing car seat, one in a rear facing. The rear facing sits behind the drivers seat, no problems at all in the Routan. The other is behind the passenger front passenger seat, the older two kids, one in a booster in the third row. With the notable exception of the mileage (I expected a bit better....), This has been a fantastic vehicle. The dual screen entertainment system has been great having two older and two younger kids.
The rearfacing seat actual takes more room, this older kids can't get in on that side. Also the back side of seat have a nice plastic panel, easy to clean the foot prints, but we have not had any from the 2 year old in the forward facing seat, even with the passenger seat slid back to be able to pop a binking in the babies mouth - she's a screamer in the car.
The third row is a little shy of leg room, but it is in all minivans.
