On occasion my 2008 Outlander XLS 3 Liter V6 engine will not shut off when I turn the ignition key to off. When this happens I have to disconnect the battery and remove the engine relay in the fuse box to get the engine to shut down. I have had this fixed once by the dealer (faulty ignition sensor) who said that this was the first time they had ever encountered this problem. Now after 2 months it is happening again. Anyone aware of this issue and is there an easier way to shut off the motor at least until I can get into a dealer?

Someone else had a similar problem with their Dodge Durango. Here are some tips for shutting the engine down. I suspect your key switch is defective and can either be repaired or replaced.
