#1 of 6 heater and dash lights gone....... by pigdogg

This morning I went to start my 2010 and the heater wouldn't blow air and the dash lights were gone. It was - 15. I drove it for 15 mins and restarted the car and everything worked. Mechanic doesn't have a clue. Any ideas?

Hmm, separate fuses, so that means separate electrical wiring line for each. 15 minutes of run time means whatever warmed up. Moisture that froze somewhere, or because it was so cold something contracted or closed, then expanded / opened up when it became warm. The argument against - if temperature related, why didn't the change occur while driving? Air flow keeping whatever cold?

Lotsa speculation there, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

There is a recall for the heater/defroster.

Well, I guess we now kow how many are out there right now, 59,000. PS.

Sounds like this is your problem.

"According to NHTSA, an unspecified fault in the system's software programming can render the heating, air conditioning, defroster, radio control, and panel backlighting to be rendered inoperative."
