#1 of 3 1995 quest heater does not

1995 nissan quest that takes a very long time to warm up. Worse, though, is that unless the van is driven at higher RPM (highway driving
55+ mph) the air coming from the vents will never warm up! If you drive in the city, RPMs never get high enough and there is no heat, only air blows out at slightly above the outside temperature.
We live in Michigan so this is a problem. Does anyone know, why is this happening, and how can it be fixed.
Love to hear any suggestions & experience with this problem, thanks.

It could be as simple as a bad thermostat. If the car's thermostat is stuck open, the van will not get to the proper operating temperature and not produce any heat. Also check the coolant level.

The quest has an unusual engine, it has to pump water up above the radiator to the heater hoses. When when the waster gets lower, none of it reaches the heater, But at freeway speeds it moves fast enough to splash into the heater. But when you slow down or stop, it goes back cold again.
Get a manual from your local auto parts store, refilling the cooling system is not easy. Next, try and find out why it lost water in the first place.
