| Recently, my 2001 4Runner Limited 2-wheel drive with 120k, started getting very sluggish when given gas. I thought it was a bad gas problem but when the check engine and VSC track lights came on I took it to a dealer. They hooked it up to their computer and said my throttle body was bad. They wanted $1200+ for a new one. Got one on line for $300 including the shipping and they installed it. As soon as they did we went for a test drive. Same thing but now it lurches and you have to mash the gas pedal to get it to move. Oh yeah, and the same lights came back on. They now told me it needs a new ECU and quoted $1587 for the part only. Frankly, I am wondering if I am getting a serious hose job here. They told me that replacing a throttle body was rare as was an ECU. Now I need both! Has anyone had anything similar problems with these parts they can contribute. Like I said, I am starting to feel that the dealer wants me to rebuild the whole car just to make a profit. I wondered how they stay in business as everytime I have been there they are very slow....Thanks! | |
