Replying to: jb12644 (Oct 26, 2009 6:45 pm) I think you are right and your dealer is wrong. A slightly black or gray coating could be normal, but not heavy black soot.

Replying to: jb12644 (Oct 26, 2009 6:45 pm) Yea, I've black soot accumulating in the tailpipe, but it's no different than my wife's 4cyl '10 VW CC, or my daughter's '09 VW Jetta, which are both 4 cyls also.
