Hey, I admit it. I'm cheap and fit into the #3 slot. Still driving a 2000 CR-V. My husband's 2000 Silverado is pushing 170k miles and he's not giving it up. AND, the 1995 Jeep Wrangler (152k miles) is just for funsies. A Cheapskate's Top 10 Money-Saving Ideas for Car Owners |

My car's oil seems to get dirty more quickly than it did 5 years ago. The most obvious idea to me, that wasn't included, would be to do you own maintenance. At the very least you should be able to change air filters, wiper blades, and oil changes. Though if I can catch a $19 oil change special, I'll let someone else change it.

Replying to: jipster (Oct 15, 2009 5:57 pm) And I'm pretty good at keeping cars for longer than a few years; I've had the 318ti for 14 years, the Wrangler for almost 7.5, and the X3 for 4. The ti, the Wrangler, and the 2002 all have over 100K on them. The X3 has almost 85K on the clock while the Mazdaspeed will hit 50K sometime this month(if I don't flip it for an E30/36/46 M3 I've dropped collision coverage on the Wrangler and 2002. So, do I qualify for cheapskate status? |
