I'm trying to replace the timing belt on my 1997 Protege 1.5l DOHC...it's been a chore. I've replaced 3 other Mazda timing belts and they were quite easy; this is not. Anyway, all I need is an idea to keep the engine from rotating so that I can loosen the crank bolt...and I assume it's standard thread, not reverse. There is mention of wedging something in the flywheel, but I don't see how I can access the flywheel. All the belts have been removed, except the timing belt of course. I'm at a dead end, I'd greatly appreciate any ideas.
