I have a 96 Jimmy Auto Trans with 225,000 miles, mechanic owned, now is owned by me. Has been running strong with out problems, however starting it up the other morning I noticed an odd grinding noise while starting. I thought it might be the starter until I went to shift into reverse from neutral and it did the same noise again. It did engage into reverse and drove fine, but it still makes the noise while starting and ONLY when shifting from neutral to reverse. Does anyone know what may be causing this?
