Am looking at an '03 Twn & Cntry LE.

My (non Chrysler) dealer mechanic friend has counciled me that the 10 year mandatory parts-making-program is nearing an end. And.......Fiat doesn't strike me as a solid platform for Chrysler to survive upon.

What are your thoughts on Chrysler longevity?

Thanks.

Well that's 4 more years left, as a minimum.

Parts will probably be available after that, though may get scarce as time goes on IF Chrysler/Fiat decides to stop making the parts. But, there's a lot of DC minivans out there so the secondary parts manufacturers will probably continue to make make parts long after that.

As for me, I'm just a tad bit paranoid so back in the spring I bought a whole pile of parts that I will need over the years for my 2007 DGC. Oil and air filters, brake pads and rotors, strut assemblies, shocks, transmission pan gasket & filter, O2 sensor. Just CYA.

I wouldn't worry too much. You can still go to NAPA or O'Reilly auto and buy pretty much anything for an AMC Concord and they went away in 83. AMC it's self went under in 87 but parts are readily available . O2 sensors, filters, brakes and things like that are not going to be too much problem either. After market companies like Wagner, Borg Warner, Fram ect are going to produce parts as long as there is a market. Heck, I know from experience that you can still get a generator, oil filter, points, kingpins and front suspension bushings for a 1963 MG over the counter.

I had an 86 Lebaron convertible that I recently traded in for an 07 PT Cruiser convertible. I owned the Lebaron for about 10 years; never had a problem getting parts. If the vehicle is an obscure model (e.g. Chrysler TC convertible), then perhaps parts are a problem; certainly not for a Chrysler minivan.
