I have a 2004 GMC Savana 3500 Work Van. Everybody I have talked to has had a problem with the hinges on their side doors. Is this an inherent problem because of the constant opening and closing of these doors during a regular service vehicle? Is there anything that can be done to correct this. Spray lubes, etc. do not work.

I have the 2003 with doors on both sides. The driver side always needs lube. I've had good results with Gibbs or Aerokroil, but you've got to lube it every two weeks or so.
Both products are available on the web. Aerokroil is less expensive. Check both web sites. Good luck.

This is a late reply. (first time at site) I know how to lube the hinges. We have had 10 GMC vans. Vandura and Savana. Drill a small 1/8 inch hole in the side of the hinge, DO NOT DRILL ALL THE WAY. Just go through the first layer, then spray some lube in the little hole you just drilled. The doors will open much easier. You can do this on a brand new van also.

this hindge prblem is a deffective hindge that gm has used since 1991 the hindge pins freeze up in the pin and wont turn correctly then it bracks I have searched this out a long time ago for I had the same problem and gmc wont do or tell anyone for they charge a hundred and some for each half of the hinge and you can only get them at the dealer!!!! so you are looking at around 1500.00 to 2500.00 with the hindges ,bodyshop and paint to match your van. I found one hindge in a junk yard for my van for 25.00 the pin you can buy at a auto store for 2.50 one with bushings or 15.00 each for one with grease fittings. dealer wants 108.00 for the pins. Now that is a BIG rip off'
