For all intents and purposes, the 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Spec C should not exist. The fact that we are even writing about the Spec C — a limited-edition, significantly tweaked evolution of the Impreza WRX STI — is a miracle.

Agree. Unfortunately, like with all such things, even if the rest of the world gets it, this will never see the light of day in the USDM region.
 
It took Subaru a lot of persuasion to even consider bringing the original 2002 WRX but when they finally did bring it, it sold like hotcakes. They expected 10% of the 2002 Impreza sales to be via the WRX but their projections got thrown off completely and the actual percentage of WRX sales was close to 40% of the Impreza sales. Unfotunately, like with all such things, Subaru sat on the laurels of the original WRX and did nothing substantial to it, over the next 5-6 years (while the competition was not sitting still) before coming out with the wet dishrag called the 2008 WRX (total failure in the marketplace, as expected and as I predicted at the time).
 
Wonder what kind of persuasion is needed to convince them that a slightly civilized version of the STI SPEC-C (mechanically identical to this) should be bought over as the STI and it will sell like hotcakes here in the US.

I'd like to see a ball-bearing turbo for the 2.5l boxer.
 
A full second off the lap time means that suspension really works, though.
