LHS 99 no sound problem

Just bought LHS 99. Everything seems to bee ok, just there is no sound from cd, tape player or radio. Cables in back of player are connected, display showing tuner searching stations, cd playing track. Fuses are good. Thought volume controler could be broken because it is not shoving volume change in display, but I am not shure it even should. If not, where could be problem?
