I recently took my 2002 Park Avenue in for a 90K maintenance performed at Holmberg Automotive. They performed an oil & filter change, front brake pads replaced, tire rotation and cabin air filter replaced. No plugs, cables, hoses replaced. I paid $235 in parts and $283 in labor ($518 total). Is this reasonable or did I get a bad deal? No one at the service place took the time to explain much of what they did following the service. They appearred to be tool rushed to take that time with me.

I'm assuming you've owned the car since new... That means the plugs and wires have not been replaced. They are to be replaced at 100K. You have another 10K.

If you've owned the car and it has not had the coolant changed, I would have changed it 50 K ago or every two years. If DexCool has been in since new, I'd get it at least drained and refilled; possibly a flush would be good.

I would have drained transmission fluid, changed filter at 50K or earlier. If yours has not been done, I would recommend that.

You didn't mention what area of the country meaning what climate you're in. The hotter the quicker I'd do some of those changes.

What's odd is they didn't try to sell you extra services that you don't need.

My prices would be based on doing it myself, so I can't really comment on prices other than oil and filter are probably $39 at most for quality oil (not the off brand bulk at some questionable quick change places), front pads without labor are $75 (ceramic GM AC/Delco) and labor would be 45 minutes at most, and cabin filter is probably under $20 or $25 for Purolator at Pepboys and labor is probably 20 minutes at most. Yours is harder than on my leSabre. If they turned the front rotors or replaced the rotors that would be additional.

How are the rear brakes? At 90K mine are worn out. Fronts I replaced at 60K or 70K on my leSabre (2003).

I've actually purchased this Park Avenue when it was slightly used. It has about 12,035 miles on it. Plugs and wires have not been replaced yet. I primarily drove the car in Arizona where the climate is hot and as of 2 years ago relocated to California. I had the transmission fluid replaced and coolant system flushed at about 70K. I recently had the back shocks replaced (front OK so far). A little over 2 years ago I had front and back brakes done at Brake Masters but unfortunately there are no Brake Masters locations in San Diego so I had to get the brake pads replaced at my cost and was not able to take advantage of the Brake Masters warranty. Some of the front panel lighting has gone out and I'm trying to determine if this is due to bad fuses and the drivers side seat does not warm up anymore. I'm diagnosing that also. That's my story at this point.
