hi david,i purchased the forte from gunther kia on 441 in ft.laud just off of 595.it's actually a kia-vw-mazda dealership.anyway, about the forte i researched and test drove all of the cars that are in the forte's class such as toyota corolla, civic sedan, hyndai elantra, and the mazda 3...iam glad that i saved the forte test drive for last because the forte won out over the rest of those cars.i find myself trying to believe that this is infact a kia because it rides, looks, and feels as if i had spent much more money than i did.it's a terrific value when you consider the standard features as well as the great warranty.if your in the market for a car of this class i would definitly atleast give the forte a test drive and you won't even bother test driveing the rest.if you do decide to purchase from gunther kia speak to either lloyd or howard fenton and they will give you a great price...hope this review helps..steven

we took our daughter to test drive a civic lx which she really wanted - she liked it and then i had her try the kia forte se - she knew nothing about it but once she got in and rode it she was sold as were we - many more nice features and just seemed roomier and more open and impressed with safety features..the reason she tried an se is because it was a demo model they were trying to sell..Automatic with only option being a moonroof. If possible, I would love any comments on if this seems like a good deal - msrp for se with moonroof and dest chg = 19600; this demo car has a lot of miles on it at 7,000. They said they would sell for 16100 before tax and other fees...would you take this deal? thanks

I have never every driven a Forte, let alone a Kia! The Forte looks like a very nice car, especially the Koupe! I own a 2009 Honda Civic sedan and am very happy with it!

The good thing about Kia's and Hyundai's is you get a lot of features and options for a lower price than what you would pay for them in a Honda, Toyota or even a Nissan!

The Kia Forte does look very similar to a Honda Civic! I guess the designers of the the latest Honda Civic did something right for Kia to steal the design and use it on the new Forte!

ajri02, My personal opinion is to get the Honda, especially if you plan on keeping this car through high mileage. You will get the Kia cheaper and the Hondas have more road noise than I would like, but the Honda will last longer and hold more value. The value becomes important when you have a wreck and file an insurance claim. I have an Accord in the driveway with just shy of 500,000 miles on it and the insurance company paid for major repairs from a rear-end collision at 290,000 miles and a 50 MPH collision with a deer at over 450,000 miles. Just bought a 2010 Civic EX-L and am getting 35-39 MPG mixed driving, but leaning towards more highway driving.

Don't understand how someone can say this about a new model car...pure speculation on their part. Having a current generation Civic myself, one can definitely see similar styling cues with the Forte...think the Forte actually nailed it on styling as compared to the Civic...a somewhat better looking design. Seems like many car makers "borrow" certain styling when coming up with new models...many times better than the original...but that is all personal opinion. Will definitely have the wife try the new Forte when the 2011 models appear among all the other econoboxes out there.

i have had my forte ex sedan for about 3 months now and just returned from a 1500 mile road trip with the forte.all i can say is that this car even in it's first year will give the other cars in this class a run for it's money.i traded in a 09 lancer es for the forte and the forte out performs it in handleing and power as well as being more quiet driveing as well.usually 1st year model cars need some tweaking for a couple years to get them right but kia has gotten the forte right the 1st time with little tweaking necessary except maybe a little bit better mpg for the 4 cyl.i test drove a toyota corolla, honda civic sedan, and a mazda 3 the same day i purchased the forte.corolla was horrible with bad handling,no power and worst of all got blown all over the highway by the slightest gust of wind.civic sedan was decent but had bad road noise, mazda 3 handled very well but like the civic had horrible road noise while the forte handled just as well and has more power and was much quieter inside than the other cars and to top it all off has a much better warranty.

I want you a few questions about the cost of ownership for the Kia Forte: How is the mileage? Was it just as advertised? What about the cost to insure the car?

Also, now that you've had the car for 3 months, are some annoyances are now present but you didn't notice when you were testing drive the Forte?

first of all,i really can't judge the cost of ownership being that the car is still brand new with only 4,100 miles on it and only 3 month's old.i haven't even done the 1st oil change which will be done at 5000 miles.the highway milaege is pretty good but the city milaege is not the best and i don't think it is getting the advertised 25 mpg city although the car is still breaking in and will get better as the car breaks in.the only annoyances i have had with this car was with the salesman who didn't stop talking during the entire test drive.i guess if i had to choose one it would be the seatbelt chime reminder but what car doesn't have that??my only regret is that i didn't wait for the forte koupe to come out..i recently went back to the kia dealership to get some touch-up paint and noticed a blue forte koupe sx sitting on the showroom floor.i was drooling over it..what a sharp looking car.

forgot to mention in my previous post that my insurance actually went down with the forte probably due to the many safety features including anti-lock brakes with 4-wheel disks and the many airbags also..plus i have a excelent driveing record with no points or accidents or tickets for about 10 years now.
