Thanks to everyone for this forum. We had a leak in our 2007 Acadia back in 2010 in Virginia. We thought it was something to do with the noreaster that came through (our floor boards in the front were soaked, then we started getting water in our interior lights) and we filed a claim with our insurance. We appear to have continued to have problems after a GM dealer there said they fixed the sunroof tubes and sealed screws in the roof rack. We never see water but when the truck sits in the sun we get moisture in the interior windows following rain. We were just getting ready to take it to a dealer to determine if it was from the work done on the insurance claim or something new. I was suggested to search if others had a similar problem and found this. So going to bring it up to the dealer and will likely bring this up to our insurance company if it does appear to be like these issues.

We had a water leak in April 2012 in our 2008 Acadia which we bought used in July 2011. Dealership fixed for free by removing trash and doing something w/ the drainage tubes. Now it is happening again but much worse. Yesterday, water was coming in from multiple locations...Third row seat belts, backup sensor, third row lights, dvd player....It's like it was raining in my car. I'm just letting the car dry out today. I don't know if anything is working or not. I spoke w/ Ashley at GM customer service. She called the dealership for me and they called me to set up a time for the water leak people to look at it again. Thankfully, they warranty their work so this won't cost me anything. Ashley is also setting us up for cost assistance in the event that this does cost us some money to get fixed. I am very upset that we were sold a car w/ known issues and it was never mentioned!!!! I don't want this car any more. I love the Acadia. I want another one without a sunroof or moonroof. The fact that GM hasn't issued a recall for this is absolutely ridiculous!!

They found the leak in the viewing window on the roof (don't know what you call that fixed window). I am having my insurance review it to see if they can tie it to the 2009 claim. But doesn't look good. So guess I will be dealing with the clean-up costs to get rid of the smell. The Dealership did a nice job of trying everything they could to find the leak. I appreciate their effort. Now to deal with the mounting costs now. Oh and they did pay for a rental while they were finding the issue. That helps.

I purchased a used 2008 GMC Acadia almost three years ago. The CARFAX report for the vehicle showed that the sunroof recall work had already been completed. After the first time it rained, I noticed what appeared to be a water stain at the base of my sun visor. Living in South Texas, it rarely rains, but when it does, the water comes into my car under the dash, through the base of the visor, directly from the sunroof and around the driver door. I've had all the issues everyone else has expressed including time periods where my car wouldn't start. When we researched, we found that a common reason for the symptom was a wet driver side floor. Sure enough, we got out the wet vac and towels and let it sit overnight. The next day, it started right up. I'm also tired of being rained on INSIDE my vehicle. The carpet stinks like old socks. I'm too embarrassed to bring anyone else in my car. It's really frustrating because I love the features in the car. Local GMC dealership in Corpus Christi could not fix it. We still owe two years of payments on this vehicle with three kids in college and all driving their own cars, need to get out from under this DRAIN on our finances. Do we have any options?

We purchased a used 2007 Acadia with roughly 40,000 miles on it and reviewed the Carfax report and found nothing about the water leaks. At first, we did not notice any leaks, but we did purchase the car in winter. By summer, during rainstorms, the water would pool in the driver side floor board and it was coming from around the emergency brake pedal. We finally noticed that the area overhead where the airbag is located was also wet and even noticed water in the overhead lights inside the vehicle. We still had part of the manufacturer's warranty and purchased an aftermarket warranty in hopes that if something like this occurred, we would be covered...not the case. Seals and electrical issues are not covered after a specific amount of mileage. So, we decided to take it to our local GMC dealer to find out what could be done. We were told that the drain tubes were likely clogged and could be "blown out" to correct the issue. We used our air compressor and cleaned out the drain tubes with success! We did this in the summer of 2011 and it lasted until August 2012 and we began to notice wetness again, but not bad. After the recent winter storms and rain here in the northeast, it has gotten out of hand. We tried the compressor again with no luck and finally found this forum. I am very disappointed with this issue because we have been told that it could cost us upwards to $600 to fix and after reading many of these posts, it seems that it still does not fully correct the problem. What can we do? We still owe several payments and really like the car, but we can't afford to dump a ton of money into it due to interior leaks! We are a quite concerned about this situation.

beck001, I was curious as to how your leak issue has been resolved. We also purchased a 2012 Acadia Denali in the summer of 2012 and began noticing water leaks within 2 months of owning it. Our dome lights fill with water, the middle vents drip and water leaks in from behind the emergency brake. I have been in a loaner more than I have driven my own car over the last 2 months as they are grasping for straws in how to fix a leak that they can't duplicate in the shop. I am unable to find any successful stories dealing with repairing the leaks on here... that scares me. I have already started looking into the lemon laws of my state. Don't know if that would ever accomplish anything. Please share a follow up, if you wouldn't mind! I am hopeful that it was a good outcome.

Unfortunately, your best bet is to get rid of this vehicle ASAP. Consumer Reports now shows much worse than average reliability for the 2007 Acadia with major problem areas including the transmission and engine (i.e., big dollars to fix). The transmission has a faulty part which fails prematurely and requires a rebuild or new transmission. The engine has oil consumption problems at less than 100k miles with the timing chains stretching or failing. The result is a new engine is needed. These vehicles may seem like a good used car buy but, these problems indicate one should stay clear of the older Acadias. Good luck.
